We’ve been eating them for thousands of years, but only selling them online for around 20. We helped this artisan retailer of olives, nuts and antipasti expand their food horizons

The Challenge: Balancing Retail and Wholesale Dynamics

Midsummer Olives approached us with an exciting vision: to launch a brand new e-commerce website that would serve both their direct-to-consumer retail customers and their B2B wholesale clients. The core challenge of the project was creating a seamless, intuitive online experience for both segments, while also managing the product range which encompasses olives, nuts, antipasti and other greek delicacies.

Our Solution: A Dual-Function E-commerce Website

Our strategy approach centered on developing a dual-function e-commerce platform leveraging the Woocommerce framework. Product taxonomy within the retail segment has a strong focus on engaging visuals, complemented by clear product descriptions, detailed nutritional information, and a streamlined checkout workflow to encourage individual consumer conversions. For the wholesale section, we implemented a robust, login-protected portal providing access to tiered bulk pricing and specific product variations. This dual-focused approach ensured that Midsummer Olives could effectively cater to both B2C and B2B segments via a unified digital storefront.

Ongoing Maintenance: A Continuous Partnership

While the initial launch of the Midsummer Olives website represents a significant milestone for the business, the ongoing commitment required to maintain its effectiveness is paramount. Given the nature of their product offerings, stock levels are subject to frequent fluctuations due to seasonality. As a result, the website requires frequent updates to ensure product availability and pricing are accurately reflected on both the retail and wholesale sections of the site.

Our ongoing partnership with Midsummer Olives will involve:

By working closely with Midsummer Olives, we aim to ensure their new e-commerce website remains a dynamic and successful channel for their business, consistently reflecting their brand’s quality and commitment to their customers.

Richard Hobbs, the founder of Midsummer Olives, worked with us through the development of the site enabling us to craft something that was not only easy to navigate for the customers but also could act as the digital storefront for Midsummer Olives. Richard had this to say, “It’s been quite a journey for Midsummer Olives. We started as a market stall and have quickly evolved due to demand and it was clear that our next step was to go online. Not knowing anything about websites or E-commerce, I was grateful to have Constructive Marketing recommended to me and I have to say the team has been fantastic throughout. They’ve not only helped me get my business online, they’ve done it in a way that I could understand and also supported me throughout the process. I love the new website, which really showcases my now award-winning products and I highly recommend working with Constructive Marketing to anyone.”

As we always say at Constructive Marketing, a website is never finished. So keep an eye out for new products and updates to the Midsummer Olives website and if all this talk of delicious award-winning olives has got you licking your lips, then you can visit their website below.
